Je roule dans cette vieille voiture de location. J’ai l’impression d’atteindre le bout du monde. Les
routes sont cabossées et elles s’arrêtent d’un coup en atteignant une ferme ou une maison. Elles
longent le bord de l’océan. Il y a très peu de maisons, toutes éloignées les unes des autres.
Je me demande ce que les habitants peuvent bien faire là, tout au long de l’année. Je croise très peu de personnes, que deux ou trois voitures. Pas un chat. Pas un café. Rien.

J’ai réalisé ce corpus d’images lors d’une résidence sur les îles Lofoten en Norvège. Le mot Still possède plusieurs définitions et connotations, chacune fonctionnant bien avec le projet : les adverbes, « encore, toujours et quand même », les adjectifs « immobile, silencieux, tranquille et dormant » ou encore les conjonctions Still life, Still water , Still image, Still picture ou Still camera.
I'm driving along in this old hire car. I feel like I'm reaching the end of the world. The roads are bumpy and come to an abrupt end when they reach a farm or a house. They
run along the edge of the ocean. There are very few houses, all far apart from each other.
I wonder what the inhabitants do there all year round.
I barely see anyone, just two or three cars. Not a soul. Not a café. Nothing. The end of the world.

I produced that corpus of images during an artist in residence on the Lofoten islands in Norway. The word Still has several definitions and connotations, each of them well adapted to the project: the adverbs, “up to now, even now, nevertheless, even”, the adjectives “immobile, silent, calm and dormant”, and the collocations still life, still water, still image, still picture, or still camera.
